Their providers hold expertise in a multitude of sub-specialties, from cardio-oncology to peripartum cardiovascular health. By addressing the complete and complex cardiovascular risk factors of each patient, they effectively treat and prevent cardiovascular health risk.

General Cardiology Fund

Led by Veterinary Specialists at PennVet

"The fund has supported studies of feline cardiomyopathy (including building a Registry for feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) in collaboration with HUP, where the human equivalent registry is originating from. Cats are a valuable model of HMC and share common genetic mutations with people affected by HCM.

Furthermore that fund has helped support a pilot study in Boxers with arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy (ARVC) , to understand the ultrastructural changes occurring in the heart muscle of affected dogs and to see if inflammation is a player in this disease.  ARVC is another  disease that shares a common presentation in humans and boxer dogs and is thus of great interest to both veterinary and human cardiologists. In fact, seed funding from our cardiology research accounts has allowed us to build collaborations with HUP and researchers at SMILOW that now allow us to offer  novel treatments such as radiofrequency ablation in dogs with life threatening arrhythmias."
